How it all began

Corelam™ is a plywood product whose corrugated profile adds strength while multiplying the natural visual appeal of wood. A panel of Corelam™ is much thinner, uses less material, and weighs far less than an ordinary flat plywood panel of the same size and strength. Corelam™ does more with less. It captures and enhances the natural beauty of wood. Its organic undulations, when in contact with light (natural or otherwise), create a stunning display of light and shadow. And it’s so fun, you won’t be able to keep your hands off of it. In addition to panel products for walls and ceilings, Corelam™ can be used in many useful ways. When the panel is curved and/or perforated in a specific way, it acquires acoustic properties that are remarkable—beneficial for spaces in which sound control and enhancement are important. While creative applications in office, restaurant, residential, retail, healthcare, and leisure settings are natural opportunities, this is a product whose built-in qualities are bound to take it to places we have not yet imagined. Corelam™ is a patented certified plywood that is produced and distributed in Vancouver B.C. Canada, using Canadian and US based reusable resources. Inert, and free of VOC and formaldehydes, Corelam™ panels are available both pre-finished and unfinished, in 3 and 5 ply. Flexible and rigid, lightweight, fire-rated, superior quality and highly effective in acoustic performance, Corelam™ has everything you need!

Wood Veneer

Egyptians developed wood veneer to maximize the yield of precious imported woods for their elaborate furniture.

1820 AD

Corrugated Metal

Architect and Engineer Henry Palmer developed corrugated iron as a building material for the London Docking Company.

1865 AD

Plywood

The first patent for plywood as we know it today was issued December 26, 1865, to John K. Mayo of New York City. It would take another 40 years before the first commercial production of plywood would take place.

1994 AD

Corelam™

Christian Blyt presented Corelam™ for his masters thesis at Aalto University, formerly University of Industrial Arts, in Helsinki Finland. Thereafter he patented and started the commercialization of Corelam™ into a product.

Undulating Corelam™ ribbons were suspended from the ceiling to visually and spatially connect the long narrow space while improving the overall acoustics of this busy and bustling spa.
